The Amarakosha is one of the oldest and most renowned thesauruses in Sanskrit, composed by the ancient scholar Amarasimha. Unlike a modern dictionary, it is a lexicon arranged thematically in verse form, making it easier to memorise. The work is divided into three sections, or kanda-s.
